Pain relief

Muscles knotted up after an accident or injury?

Many conditions cause your muscles to knot up. There are many health benefits to massage, and several styles exist to better address your needs.

While our office focuses on sport and accident related injuries, we treat infants as well as the elderly.

Benefits

What can massage therapy do for you?

Many research articles published in the past few years point to its benefits. In short, here are some:

  • Pain relief and decreased muscle stiffness
  • Increased circulation and immunity
  • Increased function, range of motion and flexibility
  • Less anxiety and stress, with more relaxation
  • Lower blood pressure and less toxin build-up in the body

Techniques

Which massage technique is right for you?

Our therapists choose the technique that fits your injury and your goals.

What is deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage uses slow strokes, direct pressure or friction, applied across the grain of the muscles with the fingers, thumbs or elbows. It works deeply into the muscles and connective tissue to release chronic aches and pains.

What is acupressure?

Acupressure is similar to acupuncture, but without needles. It involves pressing on certain points of the body to relieve pain, and aims to promote the flow of “Qi,” the vital energy or life force, throughout the body.

What is neuromuscular massage?

Neuromuscular massage is applied to specific muscles to increase blood flow, release knots of muscle tension, or release pain and pressure on nerves. One type is known as trigger point therapy, where concentrated finger pressure is applied to trigger points of muscular pain.

What is shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a finger pressure massage based on the Asian system of healing, which treats points along “meridians,” channels of energy flow (Qi) in the body. Blocked meridians can cause physical discomfort; releasing them balances energy flow and lets your body tap into its self-healing capabilities.
